The GTA 6 Beach Leak Just Silenced Years of Bullshot Accusations in Under Two Minutes
For three years, a quiet doubt has shadowed every gorgeous GTA 6 trailer screenshot: sure, it looks like that in a curated video — but will the actual game look like that when you’re playing it? This week, the leaker known as CyberLeek accidentally answered that question. Not with a press statement, not with a polished trailer — with two minutes of grainy, unauthorized, months-old footage of a man riding a bicycle along a beach. And the internet’s skeptics went very, very quiet.

What Happened: The Beach Video
On the morning of August 25, the newest CyberLeek clip surfaced — you can still find the original upload on Streamable, for however long it survives Rockstar’s lawyers. It shows Jason, GTA 6’s co-protagonist, cycling along a beach. That’s it. That’s the video. And it might be the most consequential leak of the entire saga.
In under two minutes, the clip shows Jason leaving real tracks in the sand as he rides, scattering a seagull (which can, yes, be killed), and rolling past tourists who react to him. As the sunset draws what Polygon beautifully calls its “pastel curtain” across the sky, dozens upon dozens of NPCs are sunbathing, chatting, and ignoring nature on their phones. Jet skis drift lazily in the water. Yachts sit anchored in the distance. Nobody is standing in a T-pose. Nobody clips through a sun lounger. The beach simply exists, the way a real one does.
It’s also, fittingly, one of the very few leaks in this whole saga that doesn’t end in a murderous rampage — no stabbings, no rampages, no crime. Just a guy on a bike at sunset, in a world dense enough that you could apparently just… exist in it. Polygon’s write-up argues the variety of NPCs alone — their clothes, body shapes and ambient conversations — “could be the basis of a walking simulator in itself.”
The History: Why Anyone Doubted in the First Place
If you’re new to the skepticism, here’s the lineage. When Rockstar first revealed GTA 6’s beach scenes in the 2023 debut trailer, fans were blown away by the density — but also suspicious. They had been burned before: the original GTA 5 trailers also showed animations and crowd details that the final 2013 game didn’t fully deliver, a comparison GTA communities have kept alive for over a decade.
Those fears appeared to be confirmed when Rockstar released its big batch of official GTA 6 screenshots earlier this year and some of the beach-area shots looked conspicuously empty — sparse crowds, vacant sand. The “bullshot” crowd took a victory lap. The trailers, they said, were staged vertical slices, and the real game would be GTA 5 with better lighting.
The beach video detonates that theory. This is not a trailer — it’s raw, unpolished, apparently a year-old development build, running in-engine, and it still shows a beach population that rivals or exceeds anything Rockstar has marketed. If the old build looks like this, the argument writes itself, the final game has nothing to worry about. As one Reddit user put it in a thread that sums up the mood: “Rockstar cooked once again.” Another: “The beach feels alive.”
The Fine Print: What the Clip Doesn’t Prove
Fairness requires the caveats, so here they are. The footage has visible hitches — erratic NPC pop-in, and an umbrella whose cloth deforms frantically when Jason touches it. And as fans have widely noted, the build circulating in these leaks is believed to be at least a year old, meaning the final game is likely more polished, not less. It is also, we should not forget, stolen footage being used to promote a cryptocurrency — the same scheme we broke down in our coverage of the nightclub and beach leaks. Vindication for Rockstar’s world-building does not absolve the crime that delivered it.
There are also reasonable questions the beach video can’t answer. NPC density on a beach is a different engineering problem from density in downtown Vice City at rush hour. Crowd variety at sunset doesn’t tell us how the same systems hold up under load — during a five-star chase, say, with traffic, pedestrians and police all simulated at once. Those answers only come from official, current-build footage. Which is, conveniently, arriving this week.
What This Means for GTA 6
There’s a rich irony buried in all of this: the leaker set out to punish Rockstar over the game’s digital-only release — the full backstory is in our complete CyberLeek timeline — and may have ended up producing the most effective proof-of-concept marketing GTA 6 has had all year. You cannot buy the kind of word-of-mouth that “the beach feels alive” generates. Thousands of on-the-fence players watched a stolen, year-old, unoptimized build this week and came away more excited for November 19.
It also sets a fascinating bar for Thursday. Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premieres on Netflix August 27 at 3 p.m. EDT, and now Rockstar’s official footage will be judged against the leak — same beaches, same world, but current-build and captured properly. If the extended look matches or beats what the hackers showed, the bullshot era of GTA 6 discourse is officially over.
