The code isn’t GTA-specific; it’s a broader Walmart promotion, and both IGN and 9to5Toys have confirmed it’s applying successfully for a large number of shoppers on this preorder. The usual disclaimer applies — your mileage may vary, coupon stacking on preorders occasionally fails per-account, and if the page shows out of stock, keep checking. Limited PlayStation hardware rarely stays down for long during preorder season, but it also rarely stays cheap.
One important note for anyone comparison-shopping: this Walmart deal covers the white edition only. The black edition is a different beast entirely, and one you effectively cannot buy at retail right now — more on that below.
Daybreak and Nightlife: The Two GTA 6 DualSenses

The black edition is its mirror image: the same shimmering, color-shifting finish and the same molded palm trees, but tuned to “the energy of Vice City’s iconic nightlife” — neon glow against midnight. The black pad launched as a PlayStation Direct exclusive, and true to limited-edition form, its initial allocation sold out within hours of the September 10 preorder window opening. Resale listings popped up within days at meaningful markups over the $84.99 list price, following the same pattern that hit special-edition pads like the God of War Ragnarök DualSense before it.

Basically the Only GTA 6 Collectible You Can Hold
Here’s the context that makes this deal matter beyond the discount. GTA 6’s physical merchandise universe is strangely empty for a game this size. There are no themed consoles — no GTA 6 PS5 faceplates, no Xbox skins. There’s no traditional collector’s edition with a statue and a steelbook; the closest thing is GTA 6: The Album, which is getting a physical release the game itself won’t enjoy. Even the “physical” edition of the game is just a code in a box — there’s no disc to shelve.

For Rockstar and Sony, the controllers are also a low-cost way to put GTA 6 on a shelf eight weeks early. Every white-and-iridescent pad sitting in a Walmart warehouse or on a retailer page between now and November 19 is a physical billboard for the November 19 date — the same instinct behind the Spotify billboard tease and the marketing blitz Take-Two has explicitly modeled on Barbie’s playbook.
And for players, the practical takeaway is simple: this is the cheapest this controller is likely to be. Special-edition DualSenses historically hold or exceed MSRP on the secondary market once retail dries up — the black GTA 6 edition is already proving it.
