Grassrivers
OFFICIAL SCREENSHOTS
Overview
Grassrivers is Leonida’s vast wetland region — GTA 6’s equivalent of the Florida Everglades. This is where the city ends and the wild begins. Airboats, alligators, drug drops, and the kind of people who prefer the swamp to the streets.
Grassrivers is the dark heart of Leonida. Beyond the neon and the beaches, there’s a whole world of swamp, sawgrass, and secrets. It’s where you go to disappear — or where things disappear. The water hides everything.
In the Game
Featured prominently in GTA 6 trailers, Grassrivers shows airboats tearing through shallow water, alligators lurking, and remote shacks hidden in the sawgrass. It’s a completely different gameplay environment from the city — open, wild, and dangerous in new ways.
Dre’Quan Priest operates out of Grassrivers, suggesting the wetlands aren’t just a wilderness area — they’re part of Leonida’s criminal infrastructure. Remote locations for manufacturing, hiding, and disposing.
Then vs Now
The original Vice City didn’t have a dedicated wetland area — the map was focused on the city and immediate surroundings. GTA 6’s Grassrivers is a major expansion, adding a completely new biome and gameplay style to the Vice City experience.
Real-World Inspiration
Based on the Florida Everglades — the largest tropical wilderness in the United States, covering 1.5 million acres of wetlands, sawgrass marsh, and mangrove forests. The Everglades is home to alligators, panthers, and some of the most remote terrain in Florida.
Trivia
- The Everglades is the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles coexist.
- Airboats are the primary mode of transportation in the Everglades.
- GTA 6’s Grassrivers is a completely new environment type for the series.
