Port Gellhorn
OFFICIAL SCREENSHOTS
Overview
Port Gellhorn is a seedy port town in northwest Leonida — the kind of place where the American Dream went to die and nobody bothered to bury it. Faded motels, empty storefronts, and a police force that’s seen too much to care.
Port Gellhorn represents the dark side of Leonida — away from Vice City’s neon and the Keys’ turquoise water, there are towns that got left behind. Rust, decay, and the desperate kind of crime that comes from having nothing to lose.
In the Game
Confirmed via GTA 6 screenshots showing Port Gellhorn police cars — suggesting the world is large enough to have multiple police departments, each with their own jurisdiction.
Port Gellhorn’s presence confirms that GTA 6’s map extends well beyond Vice City — Leonida is a full state with multiple cities, each with its own character and crime ecosystem.
Real-World Inspiration
Based on Panama City, Florida — a Gulf Coast city in the Florida Panhandle known for its beaches, military bases, and a struggling economy.
Panama City was heavily damaged by Hurricane Michael in 2018, and parts of the city are still recovering.
The contrast between wealthy Vice City and struggling Port Gellhorn reflects real wealth inequality in Florida.
Trivia
- Port Gellhorn has its own police department — separate from VCPD.
- The name ‘Gellhorn’ may reference Martha Gellhorn, the war correspondent.
- Represents the economic decline of small-town Florida.
