Lawyer / Comic Relief · Original Vice City (1986)
Ken Rosenberg
The bonkers ambulance chaser. Tommy’s neurotic lawyer.
Tommy Vercetti is an innocent man! Officer, do you really think my client is capable of that?
Who They Were
Ken Rosenberg is Tommy Vercetti’s shady, neurotic, cocaine-addicted lawyer — and one of the most beloved comic relief characters in GTA history. Voiced by William Fichtner, Ken is the guy who meets you at the airport, gets you out of jail, and sweats through his suit while doing it.
Ken runs “Rosenberg & Associates” — a legal firm that serves as a front for criminal activity. He’s loosely connected to the Forelli family and serves as their man on the ground in Vice City, but his loyalties shift to Tommy almost immediately. When Tommy gets arrested, Ken is the voice on the phone, frantically shouting excuses: “My client wasn’t even in town!”
Ken’s problems are legion: cocaine addiction, egomania, terrible success rate in court, and a complete inability to control any situation. He describes himself as unable to “intimidate a child — and believe me, I’ve tried!” Kent Paul calls him a “bonkers ambulance chaser” who “could defend an innocent man all the way to death row.”
Despite his flaws, Ken is genuinely loyal to Tommy. He’s there from the beginning, helps plan the bank heist, and survives the entire ordeal. But after the dust settles, Tommy abandons him. In GTA: San Andreas (set in 1992), Ken is found running Caligula’s Casino for the Mafia in Las Venturas — still neurotic, still sweating, still begging Tommy to return his calls.
Legacy
Ken Rosenberg is the blueprint for every GTA “fixer” character that followed — the panicked middle-man who connects you to the criminal underworld. He’s directly paralleled by Lester Crest in GTA V and fills a similar role to what Brian Heder likely occupies in GTA 6.
The character draws heavy inspiration from David Kleinfeld (Sean Penn) in Carlito’s Way — same frizzy hair, same gaudy suits, same descent into cocaine-fueled paranoia. Fichtner’s performance elevated Ken from a simple joke character to someone you genuinely care about.
Could They Return in GTA 6?
Ken is alive as of 1992 (San Andreas). In 2026, he’d be around 70+ years old. His role in GTA 6 could take several forms:
- Rosenberg & Associates could still exist as a Vice City law firm — now a legitimate (or semi-legitimate) operation with Ken long retired.
- An elderly Ken could appear as a cameo — a washed-up lawyer who remembers “the old days” with Tommy.
- The character archetype lives on in Brian Heder, Jason’s associate in the Keys — the nervous middle-man who knows too much.
- In-game legal ads or billboards for “Rosenberg & Associates” would be the perfect easter egg for longtime fans.
