GTA 6 Map: Every Confirmed Location Ranked by Size

GTA 6 DEEP DIVE · THE MAP

Rockstar has confirmed exactly six major locations in the State of Leonida — and none of them comes with a square-kilometer sticker on the box. What we do have is two trailers, a stack of official art, and a mapping community that has spent three years measuring bridge spans, highway lanes, and RAGE engine units frame by frame. That’s what this ranking is built on: consensus estimates from trailer analysis, not Rockstar statements. Every number below is a community-derived approximation, and where the mapping projects disagree, we’ll show you the spread. We’re saying that once, up front — and then we’re committing to the ranking.

And what a ranking it is. When GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, it’ll deliver the largest map Rockstar has ever built, rendered in the new RAGE 9 engine, and split between two protagonists — Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval — whose Bonnie-and-Clyde run will reportedly take them from swamp to skyline. Fan estimates generally put Leonida’s total landmass somewhere between roughly 110 and 150 square kilometers, or about two to two-and-a-half times GTA 5’s ~48 sq km of land (a few optimistic analyses push toward 3x, a few cautious ones sit closer to 1.8x — more on that in the finale).

So: six confirmed locations, one question. Which one actually takes up the most space on the map? Let’s count them down from smallest to largest — and if you want the full visual breakdown while you read, our interactive Vice City map project tracks every confirmed pinpoint as it’s revealed.

#6 — Ambrosia: The Sugar Town

Smallest of the six, and the one casual fans keep forgetting — but map analysts don’t, because Ambrosia anchors an entire corner of the map on its own.

What we know: Ambrosia is Leonida’s industrial-agricultural heartland, built around the Allied Crystal sugar refinery — a colossal industrial complex sitting right on the edge of the swamp. Community consensus ties it to Central Florida’s real sugar belt, with Clewiston and its U.S. Sugar operations the most-cited inspiration: a company town where the refinery is the skyline. Rockstar’s official materials also flag a heavy biker presence, which tells you everything about the local power structure.

Confirmed sightings: Trailer 2 gives us the clearest looks — biker columns riding through industrial corridors, refinery infrastructure looming in the background, and the distinctive Allied Crystal branding. Leaked gameplay (treat with appropriate skepticism) has reportedly shown Jason inside the refinery itself, which suggests it’s an interior, not just a backdrop.

Why it matters for gameplay: A refinery this size is a heist magnet — industrial sabotage, theft, a gang war over the local economy’s single choke point. Mapping projects consistently draw Ambrosia as the smallest named footprint of the six, likely a handful of square kilometers, but its proximity to Grassrivers makes it the natural gateway between swamp and civilization. Don’t be surprised if a lot of cargo moves through here.

Size verdict: Smallest confirmed location. Barely contested.

#5 — Port Gellhorn: The Gulf-Coast Grit

Bigger than a sugar town, smaller than a city — Port Gellhorn sits in the middle of the size table, and near the top of the hype table.

What we know: This is Leonida’s Gulf-coast industrial port, and the fan consensus on inspiration is remarkably settled: Panama City and its Bay County neighbors, with a dash of Port Charlotte decay. Beachtown optimism welded onto working-port grime. The name itself is widely read as a nod to war correspondent Martha Gellhorn. Local landmark-spotting has already matched in-game businesses to real Panama City spots — the “Hanks Waffles” diner tracing back to a beloved (and now closed) Panama City Beach waffle joint is the community’s favorite catch.

Confirmed sightings: Trailer 2 is Port Gellhorn’s showcase — container facilities and warehouses along the working waterfront, the pawn-and-gun shop, dirt bike and ATV culture running through scrappy neighborhoods, and that unmistakable faded-Florida strip of motels and body shops. It’s the most “GTA 4 Liberty City wear-and-tear” of any location shown so far.

Why it matters for gameplay: Maritime crime. A working port means container smuggling, boat chases through shipping lanes, and cargo that conveniently falls off manifests. The dirt bike culture isn’t set dressing either — the terrain around a Gulf port means trails, jumps, and probably the best off-road playground on the map. Mapping projects put Port Gellhorn at a mid-tier footprint: a real city, just not the city.

Size verdict: Firmly mid-table. Nobody’s ranking it top three.

#4 — Leonida Keys: The Long Tail

Here’s where the ranking starts getting interesting, because the Keys don’t cover a huge area — they stretch across an enormous distance.

What we know: The Leonida Keys are the Florida Keys translated directly into game geography: an island chain running south of the mainland, connected by bridges that fan analysis suggests run to multiple kilometers of causeway driving. Real-world geographers note the Keys are one of the few real Florida regions that’s mostly water and thin land — and the fan maps faithfully reproduce that. You don’t measure the Keys in square kilometers so much as in minutes of top-down convertible driving.

Confirmed sightings: Both trailers. Trailer 1 gave us the sandbar party and the island nightlife; Trailer 2 and its screenshot drop showed off the bridges — and Reddit’s frame-comparisons confirmed at least two different bridge designs across trailers, implying the chain is long enough to warrant architectural variety. The prison facility shown in connection with Lucia’s storyline also appears on Keys-area islands in community maps.

Why it matters for gameplay: Boating, diving, jet skiing, and smuggling — the southern edge of the map is essentially one long contraband coastline, and Brian Heder’s Keys-rooted operation is the community’s prime suspect for that content. It’s also the map’s single best road trip: a causeway run at sunset with the ocean on both sides is going to be screenshot wallpaper for years.

Size verdict: Narrow but very, very long. Fourth by raw footprint — top two by vibes.

#3 — Mount Kalaga National Park: The Northern Wall

The biggest surprise in the lineup, and the location with the widest error bars in community estimates.

What we know: Mount Kalaga National Park is Leonida’s protected northern wilderness — pine forest, canyon formations, and the elevation that Florida proper famously lacks. That last bit sparked the best fan debate of the cycle: flat-as-a-pancake Florida doesn’t have mountains, so what’s the inspiration? The prevailing read is that Rockstar borrowed from the southern Appalachians — the Reddit-famous candidate is Table Rock Mountain in North Carolina — to give Leonida the vertical variety every modern open world needs. Some analysts counter that it’s a compressed Greatest Hits of Florida’s own highlands; all we know for sure is what the footage shows: real mountains, real forests, real scale.

Confirmed sightings: Trailer 2’s northern nature montage — forested ridgelines, canyon roads, and wildlife that looked a deliberate step up from GTA 5’s Blaine County. Community mapping places the park across the map’s entire northern edge, which is exactly why it ranks third: the footprint is potentially enormous, but it’s wilderness density, not city density.

Why it matters for gameplay: Hunting, off-roading, and the promise that RAGE 9’s terrain rendering gets a proper showcase. A national park bordering a swamp state also gives Rockstar its classic land-contrast play — expect lookout points, hidden trails, and at least one mission that goes wrong in the middle of nowhere. Analysts hunting for secrets already suspect the park’s remoteness is doing a lot of narrative heavy lifting.

Size verdict: Third, with genuine top-two potential once we can actually measure it. The uncertainty here is the widest in the ranking.

#2 — Grassrivers: The Green Ocean

The closest call in the whole exercise. Depending on which mapping project you trust, Grassrivers might actually be the largest location in Leonida by raw area — and this ranking’s choice of Vice City over it comes down to one word: footprint.

What we know: Grassrivers is the Everglades — endless sawgrass plains, muddy channels, cypress forest, mangrove thickets, and bait shops at the end of dirt roads. Community maps consistently draw it as a vast wetland interior separating the coastal cities from the rural towns, and it’s the largest continuous biome shown in any Rockstar trailer to date. Trailer analysis confirms the ecosystem: alligators in the waterways, flamingos in the wetland frames, and the airboat — Grassrivers’ signature vehicle — featured prominently in official screenshot art.

Confirmed sightings: Both trailers lean on the swamp. Trailer 2’s Grassrivers showcase gave us airboating, wildlife, and the swamp-adjacent biker and outlaw culture that IGN and others have compared to GTA 5’s Blaine County, scaled up. Supporting character Brian Heder’s smuggling ties run straight through here.

Why it matters for gameplay: Traversal alone: airboats, mud-caked trucks, dirt bikes, and quadriceps-burning treks between isolated settlements. Add hunting, contraband labs hidden in the marsh, and Rockstar’s explicit teases about predators “more dangerous than alligators,” and Grassrivers becomes the map’s survival-sandbox layer. It’s the biome that turns Leonida from a city-with-suburbs into a genuine state.

Size verdict: Coin-flip at the top. Several mapping projects have the swamp as the single biggest region by area; the consensus edge goes to Vice City on built footprint and overall dominance. When November comes, this is the ranking we’re checking first.

Vice City — the heart of Leonida

#1 — Vice City: The Colossus

Was there ever any doubt?

What we know: Vice City is Miami with the serial numbers filed off and the neon turned up to legal limits — Ocean Drive’s pastel strip, downtown’s tower cluster, South Beach culture, and the nightlife economy that Rockstar has been sharpening since 2002. It’s the headquarters of this entire production: the platform for the Lucia-and-Jason story, the home turf of characters like Boobie Ike and Raul, and — per the community’s frame-by-frame work — the single densest concentration of confirmed interiors, landmarks, and pinpointed locations on the map. Airports, arenas, malls, clubs, the golf course: the fan mapping projects have already catalogued more named Vice City locations than the other five regions combined.

Confirmed sightings: Everywhere. Trailer 1 opens and closes on it; Trailer 2 gives us Jason and Lucia’s story beats against its skyline, including a thunderstorm-soaked downtown sequence that may be the most technically scrutinized footage Rockstar has ever released. Official art and screenshots have covered the beach, the strip, and the towers from enough angles for analysts to triangulate the city’s dimensions.

Why it matters for gameplay: Because everything else on this list exists in its orbit. Fan estimates put Vice City’s built footprint at roughly 5.5–6 km wide by 6–6.5 km long — call it 33–39 square kilometers, or two-and-a-half to three times the ~12–15 sq km core of Los Santos. On a 110–150 sq km map, one city commands a quarter to a third of the entire landmass. That’s not a hub; that’s the game. For the full character web that populates it — from Lucia’s prison release to the music-industry underbelly — our characters database has the rundown.

Size verdict: Number one, and it isn’t close on density. The only debate is whether Grassrivers edges it on raw acreage — and honestly, the fact that’s even a question tells you how absurd this map is.

How It Compares to GTA 5

Stack Leonida against San Andreas and the numbers get silly. GTA 5’s map ran about 75 sq km all-in, with roughly 48 sq km of land; community estimates for GTA 6 cluster in the 110–150 sq km range for land alone — a consensus of roughly two to two-and-a-half times bigger, with the spread running from a conservative ~1.8x (coordinate-based measurements from the mapping community) to a bullish ~3x (RAGE unit extrapolations). Vice City’s estimated urban core alone rivals a third of GTA 5’s entire landmass, and where Los Santos faded quickly into ocean on three sides, Leonida stacks a metropolis, a swamp interior, a mountain wall, a port city, a sugar town, and an island chain into one contiguous state. The honest caveat: these are still fan measurements against incomplete footage, and the real numbers arrive November 19, 2026. But every independent method — pixel analysis, engine units, coordinate leaks — is landing in the same neighborhood, and that neighborhood is “largest map Rockstar has ever shipped,” exactly as promised. We’ve got the deeper breakdown, including side-by-side diagrams, in our GTA 6 vs GTA 5 comparison.

One thing’s certain: between the swamp, the causeways, and those downtown towers, none of us are logging off in November. If you’re prepping your setup for launch week, a PS5 console restock check or an Xbox Series X hunt is a smart move — stock is going to evaporate.
