Downtown Vice City

Overview

Downtown Vice City is the financial and commercial hub — modern skyscrapers, busy streets, corporate offices, and the kind of money that wears a suit. Where Vice Beach is about pleasure, Downtown is about business. And in Vice City, business is just crime with better lighting.

Downtown is where the power lives. The banks. The law firms. The real estate companies that are definitely not money laundering fronts. The penthouses where the people who own the city look down on the people who think they do.

In the Game

In Vice City, Downtown was the site of key missions including the bank heist at the Corrupt Cop’s headquarters. It’s where you go when the story escalates from street-level crime to big-league operations.

In GTA 6, Downtown Vice City will be the urban core of the modern skyline — glass towers, a functional tram system, and the VC Metro Station. Rockstar has confirmed enterable businesses including banks, restaurants, and supermarkets.

Then vs Now

In 1986, Downtown was developing — the skyscrapers were newer, the money was flashier. In 2026, Downtown has matured into a full financial district. But the corruption is deeper, the schemes are more sophisticated, and the gap between the penthouse and the street is wider than ever.

Real-World Inspiration

Based on Downtown Miami — the central business district of Miami, home to Brickell (the ‘Manhattan of the South’), the Miami Tower, and the ever-growing skyline that has made Miami one of the most vertical cities in America.

Trivia

  • Downtown Miami’s Brickell Avenue has the highest concentration of international banks in the US.
  • The Miami skyline is the third-tallest in the US (after NYC and Chicago).
  • GTA 6 confirms a functional tram system running through Downtown Vice City.
