Leonida Keys

OFFICIAL SCREENSHOTS

Overview

The Leonida Keys are a chain of tropical islands stretching south from the mainland, connected by long causeway bridges that span turquoise water. This is Jason Duval’s stomping ground — the place where drug runners hide, Coast Guard patrols circle, and the sunset is always worth stopping for.

The Keys are where Leonida slows down. Fishing villages, dive bars, marinas, and the kind of people who chose island life over city stress. But don’t let the laid-back vibe fool you — these waters are a highway for drug smuggling, human trafficking, and every kind of illicit trade that moves by sea.

Jason works for local drug runners in the Keys. Cal Hampton monitors Coast Guard comms from his couch. Brian Heder arranges logistics from a dockside office. The Keys aren’t just scenery — they’re the operational base for GTA 6’s story.

In the Game

The Leonida Keys are a new area for GTA — the original Vice City didn’t have a dedicated island chain. This expansion adds a completely new gameplay environment: open water, causeway bridges, hidden coves, and maritime missions.

Cal Hampton snoops on Coast Guard frequencies from the Keys, suggesting that naval/air operations will be a significant part of the gameplay.

Real-World Inspiration

Based on the Florida Keys — a coral cay archipelago extending from the southern tip of Florida. The Keys are connected by 42 bridges along the 113-mile Overseas Highway, one of the most scenic drives in America.

Key West, the southernmost point in the continental US, is closer to Cuba (90 miles) than to Miami (159 miles).

The Florida Keys are home to the only living coral barrier reef in the continental US.
