Little Havana

Overview

Little Havana is Vice City’s Cuban heartland — the neighborhood where the exiles built their American dream. Colorful streets, the smell of cafecito, the sound of salsa, and the ever-present tension of a community caught between two worlds.

In 1986 Vice City, Little Havana is ground zero for the street-level drug trade. Gangs control blocks. The Haitian and Cuban crews are at war. It’s where you go for cheap guns, street connections, and information from the underground.

In the Game

Little Havana is the site of some of Vice City’s most intense street missions — gang wars, drug deals gone wrong, and the mission where Tommy triggers a riot between the Cuban and Haitian gangs. The neighborhood is vibrant, dangerous, and essential to Vice City’s identity.

Then vs Now

The original Little Havana (1986) was a community of first-generation Cuban exiles. In GTA 6’s Little Cuba, that community is now three generations deep — the culture is stronger, but the neighborhood has changed with gentrification and new immigration.

Real-World Inspiration

Based on Little Havana, Miami — centered on Calle Ocho (SW 8th Street). The neighborhood became the heart of Miami’s Cuban community after the Cuban Revolution of 1959.

Little Havana was named a national treasure by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 2017.

Trivia

  • The gang wars between Cubans and Haitians were a controversial but culturally significant element of Vice City.
