Overview

Vice-Dale County is the heart of GTA 6’s world — the county that contains Vice City itself. Inspired by Miami-Dade County, this is the most populated, most glamorous, and most dangerous county in Leonida.

Rockstar’s official description: ‘Everything in Excess. We’re a long way from the ’80s, but Vice City is still the sun and fun capital of America. The glamour, hustle, and greed of America captured in a single city. Each neighborhood has something to offer, from the pastel art deco hotels and bright white sands of Ocean Beach, to the bustling panaderías of Little Cuba and the bootleg brands of the Tisha-Wocka flea market, out to the VC Port, the cruise ship capital of the world.’

Vice-Dale County contains Vice City and its surrounding areas, including: Vice Beach, Ocean Beach, South Beach, Little Cuba, Little Haiti, Crosstown, Hamlet, Belville, Ekanfinaka, Leaf Links, Rockridge, Stockyard (Wynwood), Venetian Islands, Washington Beach, Vice City International Airport, and Vice City Port.

This is the most detailed and populated county in the game — the urban core where most of the story takes place.

Then vs Now

Vice-Dale County in GTA 6 is the direct successor to the original Vice City map — but massively expanded. The 1986 map was one city. Vice-Dale County is an entire county within a state, with multiple neighborhoods, suburbs, industrial zones, and a major international airport.

Real-World Inspiration

Based on Miami-Dade County, Florida — the most populous county in Florida, with 2.7 million residents.

Miami-Dade contains 34 incorporated cities, including Miami, Miami Beach, Coral Gables, Hialeah, and Homestead.

The county is named after Francis L. Dade, a US Army major killed in the Seminole Wars.
