Overview
The Tec-9 is Vice City’s high-capacity machine pistol — cheap, reliable, and devastating in drive-bys. With the largest magazine of any machine pistol in the game, the Tec-9 is the weapon for sustained close-quarters firefights where reload time means death.
The Tec-9 is the quintessential ’80s street weapon — inexpensive, widely available, and terrifying in the wrong hands. It’s not accurate, it’s not powerful per shot, but it sprays a LOT of bullets very quickly. Sometimes quantity has a quality all its own.
How It Could Tie Into GTA 6
SMGs/machine pistols are expected in GTA 6. The Tec-9 could return as a legacy weapon, or be replaced by a modern equivalent like the Glock 18 (full-auto pistol) or a compact PDW.
The Tec-9 was eventually replaced by the machine pistol category in later GTA games. In GTA 6, the role of cheap, high-capacity automatic weapon could be filled by any number of modern equivalents.
Tactics
Perfect for drive-by shootings — large magazine means fewer reloads.
Spray at close range; accuracy is poor but volume compensates.
Use in groups where you can’t afford to stop firing.
