Cal Hampton is Jason Duval’s best friend and the resident conspiracy theorist of the Leonida Keys. He’s the guy who stays home, cracks open a few beers, and spends his nights snooping on Coast Guard communications while filling private browser tabs with the kind of theories that would make a tinfoil hat manufacturer blush.
Cal feels safest at home, where the world can’t reach him — or at least where he can see it coming. He’s the digital eyes and ears of Jason’s operation, monitoring radio frequencies, tracking ship movements, and feeding intel that keeps the drug-running business one step ahead of the Coast Guard. He may be paranoid, but in Leonida, paranoia is a survival skill.
Cal is at the low tide of America and he’s happy there. Casual paranoia loves company, but his friend Jason has bigger plans. Plans that scare Cal — not because they’re dangerous (everything is dangerous), but because they involve change. And change means leaving the couch.

In the original Vice City, this role was split between Kent Paul (the know-nothing-know-everything hanger-on) and various informants. Cal is the modern evolution: instead of hearing things at parties, he hears things through radio intercepts and encrypted channels. He’s Kent Paul for the digital age — more competent, more paranoid, and armed with better technology.
